2008年10月3日，星球大战：克隆战争（Star Wars: The Clone Wars，简称SWTCW或TCW）的TV动画版开播。五年后，随着梦工厂并入迪斯尼，星战第七部提上日程，新系列的动画开始准备，绵延5季的TCW在第20集播放后被终结。随后原有已完成的第6季部分被重新制作整理，制成了“The Lost Missions”，在卖给网络电视台Netflix后于2014年3月7日播放。至此，总长121的TCW，以及我最钟爱的星战系列作品，就这么结束了。克隆战争的影视作品，还包括了总长2个多小时、共25集的2D版动画剧集Star Wars: Clone Wars（简称SWCW或CW，2003年播放），以及2008年的3D剧场版（同样名为Star Wars: The Clone Wars）。这么多的剧集，讲述的只是发生在22-19 BBY（星战纪年方式）4年间的克隆战争，也就是星球大战电影第二部与第三部（或称前传2、3）之间的事情。依靠如此之长的篇幅，CW和TCW刻画了众多鲜活丰满的人物，电影版中的人物，无论是主角、配角还是龙套，基本都得到了大量篇幅的细致描写。同时还塑造了大量原创人物，比如安纳金的学徒阿索
