This is a totally new scale and subject for COBI and represents the opening of a completely new automotive series. The Trabant 601 is a technically advanced block set in a larger model scale of 1:12 and over 30 cm in length! The car - released under the original license of the TRABANT brand - was designed with 1610 elements. The model is distinguished by the use of only high-quality prints! We completely gave up on stickers. New elements have also been designed especially for the needs of such large sets, providing additional functionality: movable steering wheel, which turn the wheels, hinges for opening doors, body and trim elements are all included. A brick-built engine is located under the working hood. There is also a characteristic first aid kit on the rear shaft. Numerous details such as door handles, lights and clocks create a detailed whole with the perfectly reproduced characteristic shape of this awesome vehicle.
The model is perfect for collectors and lovers of classic cars. Clear and intuitive instructions leading through the steps and blocks packed in numbered bags make the construction process fun and easy.
Trabant is a brand of passenger cars produced in the GDR at the VEB Sachsenring Automobilwerke in Zwickau. The 601 model debuted on the market in 1964 and was produced until 1990. Several technically interesting solutions were used in Trabant cars. One in particular was bodies made of plastic called duroplast. It had a melting point similar to that of aluminum and increased the car's resistance to corrosion and crushing. Other noteworthy solutions are a small two-stroke engine, large windows and a relatively spacious interior. The car developed a dizzying speed slightly exceeding 100 km/h. The Trabant deserves to be called a cult car from the German Democratic Republic. To this day it remains a recognizable and extremely popular classic not only among automotive enthusiasts, but it has also become a part of popular culture.
