K-Box is a brand I didn‘t actually intend to try. However, after finding their releases of the Pacific Rim mechas, I decided to give it a go. I already have 3 Pacific Rim themed mechas from Sluban, so I thought that one more Jaeger can fit in just fine.

I chose Crimson Typhoon (10311) from 2024 release because I liked its unusual shaped legs and 3 arms. I actually like mechas with some unusual details, i.e. not standard looking (too bad I didn’t know about their 2026 release, I’d buy Cherno Alpha then!).

Ordered at AE ATONG BUILDING BLOCKS Store for 17.15 EU (sale coupon), 13 days to the EU. It suppose to have 698 pieces, but I guess they also counted all the spares (and there are many, see pictures). I wouldn’t recommend the store though – they squeezed in the instructions to the package in a really barbaric way. On the other hand, the instructions are really oversized, so I kinda understand them.

Relaxed building took about 3.5 hours. The building process was quite unusual for me, where you build separate modules – small or big ones – and then attach them to the main construction. I liked it though.

Brick quality: pieces seemed lighter than from Lego or other, even cheaper brands. The red colour is painted over usual pieces. The painting is thin, which prevents it from affecting the clutch but also makes less resistant – you can see original colours here and there on the corners and edges. Nothing too visible, though. Paint doesn’t leave any traces on your fingers. The clutch power is good enough, on the verge of being loose. One piece was malformed and another one (black plate 2*4) was missing – I took analogues from my spares. The pieces that are not painted are less glossy than Lego, but not still not completely matte. Technic pieces and small ball-joints are a bit too loose. 6/10 and though not terrible, the pieces do leave an impression of some lower quality products, mainly because of that “light” feeling.

Design: mainly a display piece. Weirdly enough, it doesn’t fall apart when “wooshing” around, despite it looks like some pieces definitely should fall off :D Some decorations are not enforced by anything. Right arms uses small ball-joints, bad decision, as they are too heavy, so you can’t take advantage of 3 arms for cool poses. Posing is also limited by the legs construction. Many limiters are used for stability that will fall off if you try moving them too much. Ball joints (the big ones) are too tight to move, which of course good for stability, but bad for posing considering the aforementioned limiters. The end model still looks great and they even included 2 heads for you to choose from – one moulded and one for you to assemble. I chose the assembled one just because it uses the same pieces and thus its colour is perfectly accurate. Also, I am not sure if I like the freely rotating torso. 7/10.

Stickers/prints: just 10 stickers that should be a win in my book, but no. Most of them are meant to be applied on several pieces. I didn’t even use 2 of them on the legs, as they are not adding much visually but are applied across 4 pieces each. Stickers are transparent and glossy, which doesn’t look good on a painted surface that has a metallic look. The sticker on the left arm doesn’t even fit the piece and this can be seen on their promo pics, too :D No prints except for the moulded head. Thankfully, the painted pieces look good without any stickers at all, so you can just throw them away, thus I won’t deduce many points for it, 7/10.

Instructions: oversized book an looks cheap. However, it was perfectly clear, I liked the unusual way of the building it describes and didn’t encounter any problem. 8/10.

To conclude, 28/40, I can’t really recommend it because of the quality, but as a display model, it’s good-looking enough, so you can try and see for yourself :)
